Probation is a court ordered sanction that allows a person to remain in the community under the supervision of a probation officer. The conditions of this community-based supervision can vary. It may include jail time, fines, restitution, community service, treatment programs and other sanctions. A term of Probation will be classified as a specific type (intensive, reporting, non-reporting) and a length of duration of that probation will be determined by the Judge at sentencing. If you are found guilty of a traffic or criminal misdemeanor, and part of your sentence includes a term of probation, you will be assigned a probation officer based on the first initial of your last name.
